What a fitting post for WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK! Happy breastfeeding all you strong mamas out there! ❤

Breastfeeding is hard. It takes a lot of effort. It’s more than a full time job. It drains you. BUT it’s so worth it. The benefits for mom and baby are incredible. Not to mention, the connection with your little babe. When I first had my baby I created an oversupply which allowed me to freeze over one thousand ounces of milk. While this did cause mastitis, a little bit of pain, and a very expensive freezer purchase, it was worth it to me at the time so that I could freeze milk to have later. While breastfeeding, I spent a lot of time researching natural ways to keep my milk supply up. Here are some of the supplements I’ve had the most success with.

1. Fenugreek: this has helped maintain and increase my milk supply when I feel a drop off. I definitely notice when I am not taking it.

2. Marshmallow Root: typically when my period is approaching I have a pretty big drop in my supply. Marshmallow, recommend by a really smart health food guy in my hometown has helped so much!

3. Liquid Gold by Legendary Milk: while very expensive this is one of my absolute favorites. It has doubled my milk supply at times when I needed it. If it wasn’t so expensive I’d still take it daily. Love love love Legendary Milk products.

4. Brewers yeast: this one takes so me disciple. When I take this, I have a noticeable increase in my supply. I was putting it in brownies and cookies but then it was time to try and lose the baby weight so I started adding it to my drinks. It is very tough to choke down. Sometimes I’ll add it to a body armor and chug it. This stuff is so good for you. It has a ton of B vitamins. My hair and nails grew so much when taking this consistently.

These are the supplements that have helped me the most with my supply. When my period comes, my supply still does drop pretty significantly. I’ve been taking calcium, magnesium, and zinc but I haven’t found anything that keeps this from happening. If you have any ideas I’d love to hear them.

Happy breastfeeding!

Did you know breast milk is constantly changing to meet the needs of your growing baby. From month-to-month, throughout the week, day-to-day, and even throughout a single feeding.

Or even that children who are breastfed have lower rates of certain illness as they grow up.
